Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Trice Systems Private Limited (“Trice”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use the Ask Local website, web app, WhatsApp interface or any related service (the “Platform”). By using the Platform you consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account & contact information: name, mobile number, email (if provided) and any details you choose to share with us or with Sellers on WhatsApp.
- Location information: precise location (with your permission) or address you enter, used to show nearby Sellers and estimate delivery.
- Order & transaction information: items in your cart, order history, delivery address, payment status and order communication.
- Payment information: processed by our authorised payment partners (e.g. Razorpay). We do not store full card numbers, CVVs or UPI PINs on our servers.
- Device & usage information: device type, operating system, browser, IP address, pages viewed, referrer and basic analytics events used to operate and improve the Platform.
- Cookies and similar technologies: small data files used for essential functionality (sessions, cart, location preference) and analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate, maintain and improve the Platform;
- show you relevant Sellers, products and offers in your locality;
- facilitate order placement and communication between you and Sellers, including over WhatsApp;
- process payments, refunds, memberships and subscriptions through our payment partners;
- provide customer support and respond to enquiries, complaints and grievances;
- detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse and other harmful activity;
- send transactional and service-related notifications (e.g. order updates, security alerts);
- with your consent, send promotional communications about new Sellers, features or offers (you can opt out at any time); and
- comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only as needed to provide the Platform:
- With Sellers: when you place an order, we share your name, contact number, delivery address and order details with the relevant Seller so they can fulfil it.
- With service providers: trusted vendors who help us operate the Platform — payment processors, cloud hosting, communication providers (including WhatsApp Business API providers), analytics and customer support tools — under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
- For legal reasons: when required by law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Trice, our Users or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their independent advertising.
4. WhatsApp Communication
Ask Local uses WhatsApp as a primary channel for placing and confirming orders. When you message a Seller from the Platform, your message is delivered through WhatsApp’s infrastructure and is also subject to WhatsApp’s privacy policy. The Seller you contact can see your phone number, name and the message content.
5. Google Account Integrations (Google Analytics)
If you (typically a Seller) choose to connect your Google account to the Platform — for example, to integrate Google Analytics with your Trice seller dashboard — the following additional terms apply to the Google user data we receive:
- Scope of access: when you connect Google Analytics, Trice requests only the read-only scope
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.readonly. This grants Trice the ability to fetch GA4 reports (sessions, page views, top pages, top countries, realtime active users) from your own Google Analytics property. Trice cannot modify, edit, write to, or delete any data in your Google Analytics account. - What we read: only aggregated GA4 metrics — never individual visitor identities, IP addresses, emails or other personally identifiable information. Google aggregates the data before exposing it through the API.
- How we use it: to display your own analytics inside the Trice seller dashboard so you can manage your store and traffic data in one place. We also discover the GA4 Measurement ID associated with your selected property so we can inject the appropriate gtag.js tracking tag on your storefront pages, ensuring visits flow into your own GA property (not a Trice-owned one).
- Storage: OAuth access and refresh tokens issued by Google are stored encrypted at rest in our database, scoped per-seller, and are accessed only by automated systems for the purposes described above. Tokens are retained only while you keep the Google integration connected.
- Sharing: we do not share Google user data with any third party. We do not transfer it to other applications, sell it, or use it for advertising or ad personalization.
- Revocation: you may disconnect at any time from the Trice Integrations page (Disconnect button), or revoke Trice’s access directly from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Disconnecting from Trice clears your stored tokens; revoking from Google additionally invalidates them on Google’s side.
Trice’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Cookies & Analytics
We use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your location, save your cart and understand how people use the Platform so we can make it better. You can control cookies through your browser settings, although disabling them may affect Platform functionality.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Order and transaction records are typically retained for the periods required by tax and accounting laws.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights & Choices
Subject to applicable law (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention needs;
- withdraw consent for processing where consent is the legal basis;
- opt out of marketing communications at any time; and
- nominate an individual to exercise these rights on your behalf.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in the Contact section below.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Platform is not intended for children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11. Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services (including Seller storefronts, payment gateways and WhatsApp). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties; we encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
12. International Transfers
Your information is primarily stored and processed in India. Where data is transferred to or processed by service providers outside India, we take steps to ensure that an appropriate level of protection applies in accordance with applicable law.
13. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or other reasonable means.
